OK...who can't stand Steve Miller? |
|
Yeah yeah I know he's a lefty, but his lyrics are dumb, his music is overly simple, and he can't play worth a damn!
I mean if I hear "Swingtown" or "The Joker" one more time on "classic rock" stations I am going to puke!!!
I swear, he makes the Eagles look like the Beatles....

The first four albums were great, and SAILOR was a masterpiece. How's this for a 'best of'??
BABY'S CALLING ME HOME DEAR MARY MY DARK HOUR YOUR SAVING GRACE JUNIOR SAW IT HAPPEN (JUST A PASSING FANCY) IN A MIDNIGHT DREAM STEPPING STONE GOING TO MEXICO LIVIN' IN THE USA SEASONS The original Miller band with Boz Scaggs, Tim Davis, Lonnie Turner and Jim Peterman, made some of the greatest American rock and roll of the entire Hippie Era, and bore no resemblance to the lame outfits that churned out all that dweeby crap in the '70s.

6. That comes from a little-known soul tune. |
|
I can't remember all the details about it, but Miller yanked that particular phrase from a Motown artist who sang something about the "pompatoos of love". Something like that..... He liked the song and the nonsensical phrase stuck in his head, so he borrowed it.

at my college. Well not really but it sure did seem like it. Some of it grew on me but I really did hate the stuff and still do.

It's not the same Steve Miller though. Unfortunately, in a week I'll be living with him, and in two weeks, he'll be working under me. He's okay sometimes, once in awhile even amusing, but no big doses.

I can't handle the Eagles for the same overkill reason. I was a kid when all that crap came out. The Steve Miller song that makes me vomit is "Give me that old time rock and roll" I have heard waaay too many cheesy cover bands at wedding receptions play that horrid song.

...anger at his music to say that honestly I can't stand it.
I think of Steve Miller as little more than audio wallpaper. I know he's there, but I just don't give a shit.
