Correct term: "Thingamajig," "Thingamabob," or "Doohickey?" |
|
I always like to seem well-educated when I discuss these matters with repair people. Your thoughts?

3. It all depends on the context ... |
|
"Thingamabob" for things that are electric-powered.
"Thingamajig" for this that are discrete items themselves, unless they are parts of the body.
"Doohickey" for parts of cars, especially when in a repair shop. If you are in a parts store, use "thingamabob."

They are technical terms to be applied properly, and are not interchangeable. :)
