Gophers! I got gophers!
In a big way! Giant holes are opening in my yard. One of my favorite plants was killed overnight by an army of these vicious little beasts.

I have three cats who are useless in this war. The problem is, I'm starting a rather big landscaping project next week and will need to do something about them.

Aside from watching Caddyshack, what should I do?

7. That's a derogatory nickname
Big Ten opponents give to the Minnesota Gophers. Like Cheeseheads for the Packers.

Our two dachsunds have killed more gophers and other rodents than all our yard cats together. And they do it just for the h@ll of it.

9. I Wish We Only Had Gophers... I Saw A BIG ASS SNAKE
in my yard today. Big, fat, wide body, wide head, brown... that's all I could see before I yelped like a little girl and went darting the OTHER way!

Jeebus... I'm getting chills again just typing this.

17. And they multiply rapidly.
Gopher Snakes are good, trapping is good, sometimes people even put chewed up bubble gum down the holes. Avoid Strychnine and other baits like Zinc Phosphide. They do not break down in the water table, and also have a secondary kill effect, nasty stuff. Yea, they're cute , but they will destroy everything, undermine and destroy roads even....
