Shoppers Meet, Fall In Love, Marry At Wal-Mart
<snip>

BOISE, Idaho -- Somewhere between the junk food aisle and the automotive department, Pat Byrd and Bill Hughes fell in love.

So it was only natural that they should marry where the magic happened -- Wal-Mart.

"It never dawned on me to have it anyplace else," said the 55-year-old bride.

Neither bride nor groom work at the discount store. Still, they spend more time there than many employees do, wandering the aisles and visiting friends for up to six hours a day, nearly every day since the store opened two years ago.

"I talk to people and walk around for exercise, and we always buy a soda or a sandwich or something," 51-year-old Hughes said. "If we're not here, the store people worry about us. They're our family."

13. EWWWWWWWW
Ugh. Yeah, that's my dream wedding, Wal-Mart.

OK, now I have seen the "mall walkers", but that's generally not for six hours a day!!!

Never thought I'd hear of a place more boring than Iowa.

23. Yeah, there's a lot of corn...
We moved here from Northern Illinois....Madison, WI before that.

Talk about culture shock!!!! Plus, we live in a small town an hour from Iowa City and Cedar Rapids, so I feel very isolated some days.

21. I don't know anything about Boise, but
...perhaps there isn't much to do. The article states the two people were disabled. Maybe hanging out a Wal-Mart was the only social function available to them. Obviously they made friends.

Here in my small Southern town, plenty of disabled, retired, elderly people sit around the courthouse in the town square. It's a social scene for that age group where they can meet and talk.

I think making fun of these people is a bit cruel. I say "good on ya" to both of them.

22. Oh sure. So many cynics here today.
If you could just be honest with yourself, this one time, you'd admit that you got a tear in your eye reading this. You know you did. You're a sucker for a tender romance story. You're not fooling me, so stop trying.

Some of you are even now considering tying the knot at your local Wally World. Or perhaps renewing your vows. May I recommend doing it at a Super Wally Mart? The food and drinks for the reception are right there. Can't get any more convenient than that! And what about your gifts? Register at WalMart, and your friends can shop for your stuff while you exchange your vows. What is not to love? The happy couple can leave the store with the groom pushing the bride in a shopping cart! If that doesn't choke you up, you are simply not human!

So give up this liberal elite intellectual crap and admit that you're deeply touched by their story of true love. And if you're not, then you're just bitter, angry people!
