I said it before and I'll say it again: Don't use perfume to mask smoke |
|
:eyes:
Why do some smokers insist on dousing themselves with perfume after they finish with their smoke. It does NOT cover up the smell of smoke and only makes other folks gag from the hefty, overpowering smell of perfume.
This is not a bust on smokers, because honestly standing next to a smoker won't phase me as much as that nasty smell of perfume on top of the smoke. To be honest, I wish they would just ban perfumes at work because nothing bothers my nose more than anyone who pours perfume on them like it's going out of style. That heavy odor just hangs around all day and makes my sinuses go hogwild nuts!!!
Most of the smokers who I work with I can barely tell they smoke. But I swear those that pore on the perfume after they're done smoking end up trapping the smoke smell on them and that odor is mixed with the nasty perfume
UGH - sorry to bitch, but my sinuses are now going in overdrive from that horrible smell of the other person on my elevator.

I had an aunt who used to hand clothes down to me all the time. She really had marvelous fashion sense, and some of the clothes were really nice, but I couldn't wear them all. You see, she wore White Shoulders and smoked about a pack and a half a day, and some fabrics will cut that loose and some won't.
I admit, I smoke a few cigarettes a day -- but I don't wear perfume very often, and when I do, I put it on under my clothes and don't reapply it. I can still smell the combination of White Shoulders and Salem cigarettes like it was yesterday -- blech.

3. Perfume should not be worn |
|
in hot humid weather, ever! I've been sitting on the van pool with a lady who I'm sure doesn't overdo her perfume at a normal distance, but the closeness and with perspiration on the skin that stuff permeates.
I think it smells bad in the summer, and I wish people wouldn't wear it. I'd rather smell (fairly clean) sweat.

8. I am sorry, but that nasty smoker's smell on clothing.. |
|
is almost as bad as the actually cigarette smoke itself. I sat beside someone on the bus yesterday who had that stale smoke smell.
Gawd, do not stop using perfume and colognes. I know it is not a good combo, but anything is better than smelling like an ashtray.

My aunts all smoke and have like 500000 body sprays and perfumes lining their counters, as well as like mini sized ones to take in their purses. This is my theory. Usually the perfumes just escalate the smell of the smoke, because the perfume sticks to your skin, trapping most of the smoky smell with it.
Except now it's passionfruit scented smoke, and that just makes it oh-so-much better.

The only way to mask the smell is to wash your hands and face after every smoke break. Perfume is nasty even by itself. I've broken up with women because they wore too much or their brand made me gag, but I'm really sensitive to all strong smells, so maybe it's just me.

14. I agree Lynn. . . I think they should all spray themselves with Febreeze |
|
:).
At least that kills odor instead of adding a new stench on top of it.
