To me swimming was the "it" sport this year, but the games aren't over yet...

4. Had to go with indoor volleyball |

Beach volleyball is also "exiting", but for purely sexual reasons. :) I used to like gymnastics, but lately it seems too robotic and kind of cheesy. It's no fun any more. Indoor volleyball is exciting because it's so powerful, and I can't figure out how they "dig" a 100mph spike. It seems impossible.

The USA is competitive-to-dominant in almost every race, the nature of the sport guarantees thrilling finishes down to the touch, the relays are much more dramatic than track and field's, the split times are shown instantly providing great reference points, plus so many of the swimmers contest several events that you get to know their strengths/weaknesses and personalities over the course of the week.
If only the attire were more fair and balanced, much more Amanda Beard.
NBC ruins or ignores plenty of the best events with selective coverage due to ratings concerns. Anyone who watches CBC coverage, or remembers ABC's coverage from the '60s thru '84 knows that stuff like boxing and field events can be riveting if given proper emphasis. Instead of sticking to the long jump or high jump for an hour or more, competitor after competitor, NBC just throws in a pathetic 3 minute canned segment late at night.

on every point. Especially NBC's dismal coverage. Not even offering the OPTION of watching anything live really pisses me off. I forgot to mention "water polo" come to think of it, but I love that too.
