Poll question: Best fake name for restaurant seating purposes? |
|
Edited on Mon Aug-23-04 06:33 PM by undisclosedlocation
Ie, one to give the hostess/host/maitre d' when you get tired of them misspelling or misunderstanding your own. My real name is Dantzler and Alice's is similarly Teutonic, so we get a little bored with spelling one or another out over and over again. Here are a few we came up with; best of course in places where they announce your name over the PA. As ever if brilliant suggestions are offered, I'll try to put them on, along with an Other option if I happen to check in within an hour.
If your party is larger than two, just bear with me.

2. I have always used Winston Churchill with great effect at hotels, |
|
restaurants. But always with a question" How do you spell it?" LOL. When my name gets called on the PA system you should hear the loud laughter and the puzzled look on the faces of the girls at the front desk!

In America: Benedict Arnold. In England: Guy Fawkes.
Nothing like a history reference to confuse freepers.

I love it when they call your name on the PA system, "Donner party of -----. Your table is ready."
Now, you CAN use the name Duahmer also-but they do catch that one most times. :)

37. Back when I was younger and more prone to pranks |
|
I used the Mike Hunt one at work. It was a Friday afternoon, and all the 'bosses' were out. We also had someone covering reception who was not very popular and not very bright.
We called reception, like we were calling from outside the office. The conversation went something like this.
Can I speak to Mike Hunt please. No one of that name works here. I know. He's visiting someone in your office. Can you page him? Mike Hunt, line two please. Mike Hunt, pick up line two.
We heard an erruption of laughter from the engineers in the lab. We of course killed ourselves. Evil Ingrid was none the wiser. But don't feel bad for Ingrid. This is a person who actually refused to give her summer student a bandage, because they were "hers."
