Did you ever find money on the ground and how much? |
|
I found 50 dollars once on the side of the road. I felt guilty spending it. I couldn't help wondering if it came from someone that really needed it.

I too felt kind of guilty about it.
It reminds me of that Emo Philips bit, "If I lost my wallet, I'd want to be taught a lesson..." ;)

But everytime I went to pick it up, it must have gotten caught up in the wind or something, cause it lept away from me. Anyway, I got hit by a bus and had to spend a year in physical rehab. I just can't figure out what that dude on the other side of the street was laughing at. Jerk.

|
in front of the moore egyptian theater on 2nd ave in seattle while waiting in line to see a free screening of 'kathy tippel' w/ popcorn i smuggled into the movie.
i felt bad for the person who probably was a druggie who lost it and still worry if it was a prostitute's money, that she got the crap beat out of her for losing it. but we were stood on line for more than an hour before and after the find, and i seriously was looking for some saddo tearing their hair out, looking for it.
i bought my pentax with it. and probably some pot.:hippie:

|
there's really nothing to feel guilty about. I have found a couple of wallets; the last one I found in the parking lot at work - it had quite a bit of cash in it. I left an Audix for the guy saying I HAVE YOUR WALLET; BRING ME A HERSHEY'S CANDY BAR (NO NUTS) AND I WILL GIVE IT BACK. I kinda felt guilty when he showed up in my cube with a HUGE candy bar! :D

|
I did lose my license while out of state once and the person mailed it back to my home address.....never knew where I lost it....
Have lost a a few 10s and 20s...but I have found some too...
one was in a parking lot outside a convenience store. I did go back in and tell them if someone came looking for money they lost ...to let me know...it was a store I went to all the time....no one ever came to claim it...

I believe the most Ive found is like 10 or something. For years until Ive had enough money of my own, Ive used my dad's dresser that has coins in it as a bank, he didnt mind, and I refused to take paper money though I did find a 20 one time in a room one time, and found another one but was forced to give it back because it was gonna be used when we went to see F-911.

I was extremely depressed because I knew my account was overdrawn and didn't know what I could do about it. It was a godsend and the first time in my almost 60 years that I found more than small change.

I was in among a crowd so there was no way to know where it came from. It topped off my lucky day as I had just won $1000.00 on a video poker machine.

28. Same, I've found $100 on the ground many times in Las Vegas |
|
Sometimes a bill, and $100 chips a few times. I'm a Las Vegas resident and most of my friends have found much greater sums than that. I did turn in a wallet with $4700 once at Caesar's Palace, and found an uncashed winning sports ticket worth $1100 from the late and lamented Little Caesar's casino.
The funniest incident was when I found my first $100 bill, in Circus Circus late one Saturday night in the '80s. When my friend and I went outside, two professional gals were walking past.
"He just found $100," my friend said.
"Spend it!"

31. $3 by the side of the road from the schoolbus window about a mile |
|
from my house on the way home in the afternoon. So I got off at my stop and ran back and collected the loot. $3 was a fair amount of money in 1964. I believe minimum wage was about $1.25/hour so I did ok for less than hour's "work".

32. About $35 in a gas station parking lot, when I was a kid. |
|
My mom told me it was probably the attendant's, and I should give it to him. My dad said, "No way in hell! You don't know it belongs to him; and if you ask, he'll say it's his whether it is or not."
So I kept the money.
We were on vacation at the time, and visited a number of parks and museums. I put a good deal of money into their donation boxes; so I didn't feel too guilty about it.

I didn't feel a bit guilty. I guess I just assumed if they could drop that kind of money (this was the 1970s) and not come looking for it, they must be a drug dealer.

40. Wallet with several thousand dollars in hundred-dollar bills. |
|
Found it at a community college -- as I was turning it in, the owner came rushing up. He was a foreign student, and the money had just been sent to him by his parents for his whole next semester at school. He was SO happy to see his wallet, it still gives me a good feeling.

On the floor of a room where I worked. The room had just been vacated by two top managers. I brought it to them, assuming one of them dropped it. Both said it wasn't theirs. I always kinda wondered if it was some kind of honesty test.
