"Will You Still Love Me Tomorrow" was a milestone hit. First time a female group had number one song. A true classic.

I shouldn't admit this, but I had no idea who sang any of these songs even though I can sing along to all of them. Hopefully, there is a "Best of the Shirelles" cd I can get. :)

3. Check out Rhino's "best of" CD |
|
Or, if you *really* want to get into the Shirelles, the Collectables label has either a 2- or 3-disc set out on them.

You make it tough to choose, but it's all worth it for the reverie.

5. Night Train I enjoy your "oldies polls" |

I graduated from high school in 1966 and certainly can remember these songs. Shirelles, wicked Wilson Pickett, etc.. I used to own a business that was involved assiting with concerts that came to our city and had the opportunity to meet, and in some cases have dinner with, numerous musicians. Carole King for one. Really an outstanding song writer.
Some of the other performers I met were Elvis, Yes, Boz Scaggs, Van Morrison, Fleetwood Mac, Three Dog Night, Chicago, Bette Midler, Cher, etc....a lot of the groups from the sixties and seventies. As it turned out, Carole King was the only one that I actually got an autograph from.

It's an awesome hunk of gospel-based R&B!
