DUers who know Mari, please start a thread -- how can we help? |
|
I have just seen a thread in GD in which she writes that her husband has been killed at 51 in a car accident. Can those who know her suggest any way to help -- whether a need, or some way to honor her husband? I think this community means a lot to her.

2. We have to think of something. |
|
Does she have a job? Does she need someone to stay with her for awhile? Does she need someone to send food?
Should we send her something? What?
How about contact through that group she always provides a link to? I can't remember the name. It has to do with the military, with bringing them home.

Starting in GD would be a good start. Friends support friends on DU, so this is very good of you.;(

I am new to DU, so this maybe kind of stupid, but here is an idea...
What about a "fund raiser," similar to the "Dean bats" and allow DU'ers to donate money, then donate that money in her family's name to the Kerry campaign, an organization to bring the troops home, or whatever she would like? (I think the DU administration would have to be involved.)
The other way to help would be for those that know her well, to be there to listen to her and her family. Since not all DU'ers know her that is difficult to do.
Everyone grieves in his/her own way, the best we can do is respect her way.
Brightest Blessings!
