A computer tells you when it's safe to have unprotected sex
Edited on Thu Aug-26-04 11:18 AM by Champ
Birth control gone high tech

While we know most of us are probably not amping to get a day-by-day blow on our fertility options, Lady-Comp could be your friendly ovulation-meter.

The computer wakes the user with a musical alarm, delivers a thermometer for body temp checking, and sends a “traffic light alert” — a green light day means you can throw all caution to the wind with the age ol’ ”rhythm method”, and a red light day says don’t even think about going Trojan-free or you’ll get a bun in the oven.

The Lady-Comp - little bigger than a portable CD player - works by measuring a woman's body temperature first thing in the morning, and warns of ovulation through a series of "traffic light" alerts.

Dr Hubertus Rechberg, a German management consultant with a PhD in economics, invented the system after his wife got cramps in her legs at night while she was taking the contraceptive pill.

3. I've seen these in England
A more sophisticated version of the rhythm method. I think it's great for those who don't need total 100% guaranteed protection against unwanted pregnancy, and it's a great way to get to know your ovulation rhythm (or find out you kinda don't have one). Not for everyone, though.

4. Men are still in the 19th century on this...
And with condoms failure rate, probably better to abstain on red days.

It would be nice if men had some reproductive options beyond sterility and at the mercy and trust of women.
