Years ago - 15 or so - I worked out in a taekwondo gym where one of the students was a viet vet who was a mailman. He also had problems with overuse of numerous "substances". Plus, although I was better than him in taekwondo, he had studied judo, and liked to use it while sparring. He would fequently start hitting pretty hard while sparring, too, but usually you could get him to back off by socking him hard once or twice on the shoulder. Guy's name was Bill, so naturally we called him "Wild Bill".
