Have you ever had a close friend that was in a relationship... and... |
|
... you just knew that things were going to end badly, and that your friend was just going to end up getting hurt.
Let me hear your stories... I need some comfort...
Peace,

1. Yup - I said "Hey, it's their life" |

Don't lose sleep over it. Don't badmouth the S/O to her. BUt if she asks your opinion, just be honest.

Had a friend whose boyfriend drank too much and liked to get physical with her, and not in a good way. She didn't date much and honestly considered herself lucky to have a boyfriend at all. We worked together, and she would sit in the cafeteria surrounded by people, talking about their sex life. :( I guess she was glad to finally have one!
So, I was concerned about her and tried talking to her about this guy. I urged her to end it for her own good. What a shocker--she got royally pissed, accused me of telling other people at work her personal business (like everyone in the cafeteria was deaf), and lots of other tasty things. She ended our friendship, which had lasted about five years.
A few months later, the two of them went to a wedding out of town in her new truck for some of his friends. He got drunk, pushed her down in front of everyone (she didn't even weigh 100 pounds), then tried to drive off in her truck. She went to stop him by climbing into the passenger side of the vehichle. He kicked her out the door with his boot then drove down a gravel drive with her clinging to the door, dragging her along with him. Finally, she let go. The folks at the wedding took her to the hospital and called the police. The previously fabulous boyfriend was arrested and spent some time in jail. His parents even called her to apologize.
I'm pretty sure they broke up.
That happened a long time ago, but she and I never repaired our friendship. The moral is: stay out of it! Be supportive, and tell the truth if your friend asks. But don't volunteer any advice. You'll end up in trouble. And, ultimately, your friend has to make their own decisions. That's one way we learn valuable lessons--by landing flat on our asses! :P
Good luck. Hope it all turns out well for everyone.
Peace--
