Philip Glass, Music in Twelve Parts - love it, or leave it? |
|
I love it! Listening to it now. I'm on part 3. i won't listen to the whole thing tonight, but last week I loaded up the CD player and sat through the whole 3 hours of it.
Incredible!! I'm sad that I didn't take the opportunity to go to a performance of it at Lincoln Center last year (or the year before).

I usually dig Philip Glass though. I have several of his works on CD. Maybe I should check it out.

14. Exactly! Can't stand his minimalist crap... |

Take 10 minutes of ok music and stretch it to nauseating hours, and there you have Phillip Glass.

I was cringing as I opened this thread knowing you had posted on it...I thought you were gonna call him a genius or something...:scared: now I know I'll never have to sit with you listening to a Glass CD telling me all the nuances of someone who doesn't put any friggen notes on the page...

17. LOL.... The worst experience of my life... |
|
was sitting through the opera "Akhnaten." The only interesting part for me was watching the three Sumo wrestlers in the corner of the stage wrestle in slow-motion for an hour. Fascinating. I fell asleep sometime after that.

5. It's worth listening to! |
|
For a long time, we only had a few parts available for listening, but in the late 90s Glass finally did a recording of the whole thing. Of course, I snatched it right up. :-)

I'm confused. I have a copy here -- a three CD set -- with all twelve parts, released in 1989 on Virgin Records. Did you mean late 80s?
