Are you arrogant?
Edited on Sun Aug-29-04 01:07 AM by WillyBrandt
I admit it--I'm arrogant. I'm very nice, and am humble about some things, but am arrogant and becoming more and more so.

It's not a positive development, nor one I welcome. But that's how it is. Perhaps it's a function of youth, unhindered yet by the hard knocks of life. Perhaps not.

Are you arrogant?

6. Arrogant? Of course not.
That would imply I am incorrect in my self assessment, which is clearly impossible. ;-)

7. Yes
I would say that I'm arrogant, to an extent. At least I don't deny it.

10. No, and I have to say that I my advanced age of 50,
I still as unimpressed by arrogance now as I was at 18. I went to a really good college where I was only one of MANY achievers. I quickly learned that, while I was brighter than many, many more were brighter than me. In the scheme of things, my intelligence has helped me, but my laziness and lack of ambition has hurt me.

In other words, I'm well aware (and proud) of the positive parts of my mental makeup, but I'm also aware of my shortcomings-which are many.

You really don't strike me as arrogant, though, and I read a lot of what you write. Regardless, life will beat it out of you in a few decades so don't sweat it now.

14. I guess I could be perceived as arrogant.
I am not real quick to compromise when I know I'm right and can be stubborn at times when it comes to giving in. I'm probably more of a loner than a team player. Good, bad, or otherwise, it's too late to change now.

15. I am extremely polite and civil, but I don't put up with crap either.
I expect a lot from myself and generally achieve what I want (eventually anyway), so yeah, to a degree, but it's better than being a doormat for the rest of the world. BTDT.

19. I try not to be, but I have to make a conscious effort at it. The natural
human condition is to stay in the comfort zone. Admitting you may not be right isn't exactly within the zone for most folks. So they may seem arrogant if they appear to think they know everything, and what they know is right.

21. No, but I can be sometimes.
Most of the time, I don't like being arrogant. It just makes you look really bad and people won't want to talk to you.

I'm only arrogant around Republicans. I tend to show-off my intellect to them too much.

22. I know I come across that way
with people I've just met. It takes awhile for me to let someone into my inner circle. I'm just and intensely private person. That can be misconstrued as arrogance. But I just don't go out of my way to fit into cliques.

It's a great flaw of mine, but at least I can take comfort in always being right.

25. I try not to be
Being arrogant just doesn't go over well in a rural Wisconsin food processing facility where the average wage is around $10/hour and there are more high school drop outs than college educated people. I was sort of arrogant when I got there. 'Redneck morons' I thought. I really try not to think of most of them this way and relate to them as equals.
