How should I handle this? |
|
Today during physical therapy, Faux News was blaring on the TV. It was making me ill. Pat Boone followed by Henry Kissinger. Great. A fundy nutjob followed by a war criminal. It certainly made me want to vote for *. BARF!
I don't want to have to listen / watch Faux next time I have physical therapy. How should I broach the subject? Or should I just wear earplugs?

1. Was it just you and the therapist? |
|
I'd tell the therapist that you'd feel more relaxed with no TV on. Don't make an issue of what's on the TV, just ask for no TV at all.

2. What good is physical therapy if your mind is destroyed?! Tell them... |
|
to change the channel or shut the shit off. Your's paying them, right? If they refuse, find another therapist because they are not there for you!

3. Just tell your physical therapist... |
|
...that faux does not create a therapeutic atmosphere for you and you prefer it not be on during your sessions. If your therapist is not able to comply, ask him or her whom you should ask to get it taken care of.
Good Luck.

4. If you're paying, you call the shots... you can say something like... |
|
"Oh, do you mind turning on the boxing match on ESPN?" or "Oh, do you mind turning on the Brady Bunch on TBS?" or "Oh, do you mind turning on the weather channel? I need to know the weather in Honolulu" ... be creative :P

I'd say "I don't like Republicans, and I don't like their propoganda. I didn't come here for news or lies. Put some EZ listening on, or I'm gone"

9. Just tell them that stuff is just too controversial |
|
and it gets your blood pressure up, negating any good you might get from the PT. The electric bill and cable TV bill is being paid with your money. They should show some consideration.

How do you think that they get paid?
I don't care what kind of insurance you have that insurance pays them to keep their doors open.
Tell them that hate mongers makes your pain level a "20" and if they keep it up you are going to file a complaint with the Department of Human Rights.
If they don't want to turn the TV off post a message here and I and others will be more then happy to make one or two calls to some Politicians in your area.
Did you get your apartment?
