talked to an undecided voter today |
|
an aquaintance who doesn't like Bush or Kerry. SHe wants to vote for Powell. (!!!???!!!) So I said things like: but Powell is doing whatever Bush wants him to do and a thousand Americans have died there for this useless war and thousands of Iraqis died, etc. Powell could have quit that administration if he wanted to and he hasn't. Thewre's only one thing to do and that is vote for Kerry. Blah, blah, blah. The conversation went on for another few minutes but I was seething/ peeved with her to the point I almost couldn't talk in a calm voice. It was a good thing it was a phone conversation and I wasn't in front of her as I was almost strangling her in my mind. (She's not well-informed at all on politics, isn't watching the conventions, likes reality shows, has 2 grown college grad daughters who are both strong Democrats, is very into her physical appearance; likes to work out a lot, garden, etc. If you said to her, what do you think of the senate race in our state, she wouldn't know the names of the candidates, but she could talk about hair colors for an hour ) *banging head on wall*
I don't even know why I am writing this message, other than I am upset and flaming right now. I'm crazy woman, hope I didn't turn her off to Kerry , did I really convince her that Bush is an utterly wrong choice.... primal scream

1. if it makes you feel any better... |

I read an article yesterday that said that the uninformed voter votes for crazy reasons. They'll vote cause of weather patterns or cause they like the color of a guys shirt, BUT their percentages of choosing a certain candidate parallel with the percentages of informed voters who choose the same candidate. In other words, regardless of what they attribute their vote to, in the end it appears to be some sort of fairly reliable instinctual thing. Liberals believe that the universe will err towards the good. If we're right, and I have to believe we're right, then we win by default cause their instinct should tell them Kerry.
I know the RW will do things that may alter the natural course, and we're going to have to be ready to counter them, but if we can just get to an even field I think we win.
