I heard Lt. Gov. Michael Steele on the radio today... |
|
My first thought was that he was actually quite a good speaker. He sounded intelligent and articulate....possibly a black republican who could be a challenge for Obama at some future point in time. He certainly seemed to have a better grasp of reality than Keyes.
Then someone questioned him about backing up Ehrlich's recent crack about partisan racism, and he flew off the handle, aimlessly yakking about Trent Lott vs. Byrd and hissing, "Let me tell you something, I'm not going back to the plantation!" All I could think was, "You ass...how can you defend the people whose programs seem hellbent on ignoring minorities, women and the poor?"
A little while later, a woman called into the show and said, "I'd like to let Michael Steele know something...He doesn't have to worry about going back to the plantation, 'cause he's in bed with the overseer!"
Did she nail that on the head, or what? :)
