First two albums were interesting and novel. Then, Jeff Lynne started fancying himself a songwriter, producer, and popstar. He overdominated the band after that, and the result was crappy album after crappy album.
BTW: I really hate his production style. The overhot, but rolled off vocal sound always left me cold. Sounded like Jeff was trying to cover up the fact that he has the vocal control of a parrot. The Professor

he makes everyone he produces sound JUST like ELO. As a producer, he's crap.
I liked everything ELO from say 1975 through 1981 or thereabouts though. This waas the first concert I ever went to. My brother (who's 12 years older than me) had an extra ticket, and took me to see them in 1980.
