WHy do we not have singers like Jackie Wilson anymore |
|
Or Sam COoke, or Dean MArtin.....
These people had serious talent, and there has to be people who can sing that well these days. But why aren't they out?

but it`s the mtv generation. alot of really good singers sing gospel now. remember most of that generation of r&b/soul singers also sang and recorded gospel. try that now and their carrers would never get anywhere....

3. Nowadays America is asked to choose |

from among American Idol contestants mostly singing covers of crappy 70's songs, and I haven't seen one of them who can sing worth a damn. American mediocrity at its most hideous.

4. What, are you saying that Jessica Simpson's musical legacy will |
|
not endure?
I think the emphasis on the looks of the singers in the recording industry since MTV has caused a relative downgrading of the actual voice talent.
I personally feel that people are the same in innate talent and potential over the decades since they are probably about the same genetically. The environments that forge them will influence the potential that the individuals within the era will reach.

5. There is much less live music than before |
|
and young singers can't practice and improve their craft and develop their style the way they used to, or make any kind of a living while they are coming up.
