wow, the sea lions are loud tonight
They're having a regular choral program tonight. I'm not even that close to the wharf, but I can hear 'em all barking up a storm. The wharf is probably a mile away, but they get under it and whoop and holler cuz the acoustics are so good.

I can make out at least 4 different voices. I wonder what they're barkin' about.

5. You live near the ocean?
I envy you. I'm in California, but inland, about 1 1/2 hours northeast of San Francisco. Love the smells and sounds of the sea.

12. What, you pitched a tent?
And the crud de jour is beans, macaroni or ramen? Isn't it expensive?

13. ah
yes, it's expensive. But I've lived in the Bay Area for 20 years, and it's ALWAYS been expensive. I've been fortunate enough to make do in the tech business. Not rich, but well enough to afford a nice little house near the beach.

14. That's it! I'll be at your doorstep tomorrow
Back in the day (1970), a favorite activity was topping off a night at the Fillmore with a second hit of acid before driving from Los Altos to the beach in Santa Cruz to revel in the sunrise and ocean. I haven't been back there in 34 years, but you've stirred up some powerful memories.
