One year ago I told my wife I'd had enough, I left the wasteland of Interior BC, moved home to Toronto, found a job I love and a woman about whom I'm not willing to use the "L" word (for fear of jinxing us).
It has been the best year I can remember in a long time. I have been reborn at the age of 48.

So when does the L word come around? If you're thinking it you might as well use it.

3. The L word is loaded with imagery and expectations. |

There are ways of saying the same thing. So far, those ways have mor meaning for me, and I think us, because they don't carry all the expectations and baggage of the L word.
It also means we work at talking. We talk about the manifestations of L rather than using L as shorthand for what those manifestations are. Am I making no sense? What is intimacy? It's a lot of things, but it includes driving along and having her hand curl through my hair unexpectedly. It's standing in the line at the restaurant yesterday and lean against each other unexpectedly, just because.
It's the meaning of L without the shorthand.
