Sewing and mending question
Does anyone know of a good book I could purchase with basic tips for things like buttons and mending and hemming? I realized I sent my boys off to college well prepared for everything but this. I think for one of their silly gifts I will give them each a small sewing kit but I am having trouble finding a book that just deals with those very basic things. I have looked on the Internet but I am not terribly good at searching. SO, I thought I would ask here. The other option would be to compile simple directions and make a book myself. Thanks.

3. THANK YOU!
I will check this out. I am afraid they would just toss a perfectly good shirt rather than try to fix it then ask for nothing but shirts for their birthdays.

2. A few years ago I bought a book
for my son and also for his friends, but I can't remember the title. It was something like "What do I do now that Mom's not here" and included everything that boys would generally expect Mom to take care of. It looked sort of like the big red/white checked Betty Crocker book and had chapters on cooking, laundry, sewing, first aid, etc. They all used it a lot. I'll bet it's still around in an updated version.
