I met a new buddy in my art class, but....
he's a Bush-backer. :( He's not one of those asshole-type Bush-backers, though, like those from Free Republic. He's actually a very decent person, not involved with all that Kerry-bashing or Democrat-bashing crap that Free Republic-type Republicans participate in. Heck, he doesn't even buy that crap from the Swift Boat Douchebags.

There's some stuff he likes about George, and well, that's all fine and dandy with me. There's a lot of stuff I like about Kerry and that's all fin and dandy with him. I respect his political beliefs and he respects mine. We actually avoid talking politics, except when we're boozing it up. Then it becomes WWIII (not really that bad, but there is a lot of arguing).

Why can't Republicans be more like my buddy? Why are most of them assholes?

Do any of you have Republican buddies like I do?

1. Can't say I do.
Seems like if I even have a sliver of compatibility with a person, it automatically means they are liberal. I don't even have any conservative buddies at all, pro- or anti-Bush.

4. Yeah
There's this one guy down the hall from me in the dorm who puts up all this anti-Kerry stuff, like "Communists for Kerry" posters and a picture of Osama Bin Laden saying "Anybody but Bush!". It's all bullshit, but in person he's a really nice guy. We have calm arguments, he has his talking points I can't refute, and I have mine. But he thanked me for being civil and not a complete brainwashed moron, which we agreed there was no monopoly of on either side of the political fence.

6. Oh hell.
He's not that bad. He doesn't put up crap like "Communists for Kerry" or any of that childish shit.

That's why he's so cool.
