There was a thread a while back about evil credit card companies and their less disreputable brethren. My attempts at a search didn't turn up the informative thread.
One of my cards just got swallowed into MBNA, which I recall being decried as one of BFEE's biggest supporters. I don't belong to a credit union, and my bank is local and doesn't do its own credit cards.
What's Discover like as a company? Any other recommendations? I'd like to move some of my payments to a less BFEEy outfit than MBNA.

2. If you can find a credit union to join, do it. |
|
They have many benefits. Debit cards and credit cards among them. Fees and charges are usually among the best you'll find. I've had bankers tell me they can't compete with them.

You can do some websurfing to find ratings for different companies. Money magazine used to do an annual rating of all the credit card companies.
If your credit is good you can get a good rate through Citibank. I've got a really low rate there right now.
The best one I've got is USAA, but you have to be military or a dependent to get that one.

Let's say I am forced to have a relationship with them soon. Are they also a BFEE operative?

5. MBNA are predatory lenders |
|
they sell your information to "affiliates" that sometimes "sell" you items w/o your knowledge.
i was "sold" a subscription to "field & stream" & i'm a vegetarian & animal right's activist.
if you're established w/your bank, you can apply for a major credit card through them.

7. Get an Islamic Bank Credit card |
|
pay all at the end of the month... or carry a balance of which a minimum 10% of the balance must be paid each month. No % but a flat fee which only applies if u carry a balance... Plus you can switch what u want to do with a phone call to the bank...
