Raita. Okay, fans of Indian food talk to me. |
|
I just made raita for the first time ever.
Roughly thus: yogurt/milk (50/50) grated cucumber fresh chopped dill cumin cayenne salt lots of fresh cracked black pepper
Not as good as most restaurants but plenty good. What I want to know though is how exactly do you eat it? In restaurants I always just dip my nal (bread) in it. I love that. So, is it like a cold soup? If not, I'm here to tell ya, it works pretty darn good that way. Or is it more of a condiment, and, if so, on what?

It's also good on chicken dishes, I've found. Or vegetables. Or just about anything, really. ;)

And wow, you should win a prize! You're the only person who's recognized him!
I've had several people think he was Sissy Spacek, but most have no idea. :D
If only I had a prize for you! :yourock:
On edit - Neal is an awesome drummer. He and Dennis Dunaway were a very underrated rhythm section, I think.

5. Seeing Alice do "I'm Eighteen" on TV changed my life |
|
Here I was, this like three or four-year-old kid who was afraid of Mickey Mouse but loved Alice Cooper. :D Go figure. I hate his solo stuff, but that band was great.

I just sold Billion Dollar Babies and a tour program from that tour.
Jackass Cooper had to go and say all his winger shite. You know he's a big ol' Christian now?

27. I saw AC do "I'm Eighteen" at the Alexandria Roller Rink... |
|
Edited on Sun Sep-19-04 11:46 PM by mike_c
...in Alexandria VA, must of been 1970 or '71, I think. I was tripping on acid, the acoustics sounded like, well, like a roller-rink, and during the middle of the song he killed all the lights-- pitch darkness-- and whirled a pinpoint spotlight over his head by a cord. I thought the top of my head was going to explode. And unless I'm getting my shows mixed up, Cooper was the opening act for Tethro Tull that night. I saw him open for Edgar Winters at the Alexandria Roller Rink a year or so later. That was the show where he did the mock hanging.

Someone else here on DU saw the band when Neal Smith was stabbed, but I never got a chance to follow up on that story. :)

My first band back in high school played a lot of Cooper.
I sure have come a long way musically from that stuff, but I still love it.

Pretties For You and Easy Action. You can see where Bob Ezrin shaped their sound a whole lot. They were a good, trippy band all on their own though. ;)

|
I only saw 'em once BDB tour. That's where the program came from. I think he had the band stuck in the back sorta and I seem to remember they had other people augmenting the band. I difinitely remember another guitar player that wasn't a band member.
The show was a little hokie, but pretty good entertainment for a kid.

24. Yeah, I was born at the end of '68 |
|
So I was a little young for the show, but I loved seeing them on TV.
Glen Buxton had a lot of health problems, so they did have other people augmenting the band, plus they had Michael Bruce playing guitar full time, so they brought on a keyboard player.
I wish I'd seen that tour - that's one of my first stops on my fantasy time machine rock & roll experience! :D

I wish I'd seen the Killer tour. I seem to recall that was my favorite album. He started to lose me with Schools Out. That West Side Story stuff ... not for me. But BDB was great. Then Muscle of Love ... say bye bye now. I hated that album. And never went back. I think it's time to refresh my memory. I can't remember how a lot of those songs go anymore.

What a disappointment. I think he'd forced out a lot of the rest of the band by then.
If you get a chance, pick up a used copy of the VHS "Prime Cuts" by Alice. The first half or so is great - has lots of great footage, plus the actual video from "Elected," which is so funny. It has a chimpanzee in it! When I saw that recently, I about died - talk about prophetic!!! :D
