What do you consider your creative muse?
You know... what inspires you to do your best work? Is it a person, a type of music, a particular ambition or goal?

1. Unfortunately ...
it's when somebody really pisses me off. So, you can imagine the amount of work I've been producing since Bush was selected.

3. F. Scott Fitzgerald
(not for the drinking), but the discipline and tenacity he had in his own writing that I have difficulty finding in mine.

His was a highly organized mind; he was self deprecating, incredibly loyal and above all a very genteel, distingué person. These are qualities I admire and always aspire to, sometimes with more success than at others.

7. The desire to not fuck up
Seeing as how I'm a truck driver I think you can guess what I mean. Those big trucks aren't too forgiving when you make a mistake.

9. My hatred
Edited on Sun Sep-19-04 01:29 AM by TlalocW
Which burns with the intensity of a thousand suns and eats away at my soul day by day.

What do I do? Balloon twister/magician. :) Oh, wait... That doesn't sound good for my muse then.

"That's a gweat bawwoon poodle, Mistah Twister!"
"Feh. You wouldn't know great balloon art if it bit you on the ass, you leetle bougeious peegie! Tell your parents I do kids' birthday parties. Now begone!"

12. I've known and loved the muses since my late twenties.
Calliope, muse of epic poetry, and matron of all her sisters.
Clio, muse of history.
Erato, muse of erotic poetry.
Euterpe, muse of music.
Melpomene, muse of dramatic theater.
Terpsicore, muse of dance.
Polymnia, muse of nationalistic poetry.
Thalia, muse of comedic theater and of celebration.
Urania, muse of astronomy, and mother of all sciences.

Without a second thought, Urania has been my muse mistress, all my life.

From the twentieth century arts, my idols are:
Cinema: Stanley Kubrick
Painting: Mark Rothko
Poetry: Bob Dylan
Music: John Coltrane
Humanism: Mahatma Ghandi (I haven't, and refuse to see the movie)

Actual snippet of conversation:
Chef: "Mankind has benefitted more from the invention of a new dish than from the discovery of a new star"
Me: "Who said that?"
Chef: "Anthelme Brillat de Savarin"
Me: "Who was he?"
Chef: "A chef"
Me: "Go figure"

14. Chemistry
Edited on Sun Sep-19-04 07:56 AM by Crisco
Not the scientific, but the personal. Some people inspire me to head out onto the high wire more than others. There's no rhyme or reason to it.
