I am going to stop swearing (ie, cursing). |
|
I notice that I swear all the time, especially when I driving and watching TV but a lot of other times too. I seem to curse or swear at the drop of a pin. It can get you into trouble besides being bad for your glands and valves. Yesterday I said "What, a dickhead!" in my car to some guy and he must been a lip reader. He ran me off the road and I lied and said I was yelling at the radio. He thought I called him a "shithead." I don't see how he got shithead out of dickhead but it was a close call. He kept his hand in his coat like he had a gun. I thought I might just kick his ass for him but I wasn't in the mood. So from now on I am keeping a little spiral notebook in my shirt pocket from now on to write down what I say via swear words. That way I will be shocked at the end of the day by what I have said and will probably stop soon. I may put the list at the end of the day here or not. I believe a lot of you could learn something from my expermient.

they RUN, cause they know I'm really upset!
Edit: I used to be awful about it, but now I have a kid, and the first time I heard him use the "F" word, that was it for me.

2. I just said somebody was "full of crap." |
|
I wrote it down but I don't think it's swearing. Crap is not official excrement. It could be any thing. "Hey, what is this crap on the table." It could be string or trinkets or magazines. It's quicker than saying, "You are so full of string and trinkets and magazines." Does not count.

life. You do have a foul mouth, as do I, and you are a better person for recognizing the problem and dealing with it. I bet you will have many astonished nights as you review your notebook entries for each day. Does Maria swear as much as you do?
By the way, crap is not a swear word. It is an acceptable substitution for shit. Fear not.
I must edit for spelling, not language.

I try not to cuss in public places, but I do at home or in the car.
That psycho that ran you off the road sounds like he has an anger management problem.

8. I didn't swear until I work where I do now |
|
Many of the employees swear all the time. I have to be careful to avoid saying "Oh, shit," "Fuck," "Fuck, that fucking fucker", and calling people "Assholes" and "Fuckers"

it was strange that we as humans have certain sounds we make that are bad like the word fuck and sounds that are good like the word love. Did cavemen have grunts that were bad and grunts that were good? Strange animals we are.

Good for you. We can bring civility, manner and polite conversation back into the mainstream one person at a time! Good for you for advertising some class in this nation less graceful!
(If it helps, remember that dignity and honor annoy your enemies a lot more than reducing yourself to their levels....)
