interest in Baseball would go down -

everyone wants to get the yanks
so it gives them all a goal and when they win they feel really good because they beat the top team

if it switched all the time - people would lose interest

the sox and yankees that is territorial - If I had grown up in Boston I would probably be for sox

but the yankees goes all the way back to my grandfather when they lived right close to the stadium and the neighbor was safer
