5. The skinny: I lost my job without getting fired, laid off or quitting. |

I have a work study job at my college, as a student assistant for the NDSU Bison football team. Some asshole at the business office decided it would be fun to cancel my work study this year without me, my parents or the head person at the financial aid office who granted my work study ever knowing.
The lady who granted my work study just found out yesterday, and was very pissed at the business office. The business office for some reason notified my supervisor (the NDSU equipment manager) that I and my parents should have recieved a notification of cancellation, but we never got one, not me nor my parents.
Their reasoning was that I was receiving 830 dollars (the amount of work study pay I was getting) more than the amount of money I needed. But I have the slip in my hand RIGHT NOW proving that the money (including my work study) adds up to the RIGHT amount of money I should be currently receiving.
I was under the assumption that I was supposed to recieve paychecks starting September 15, but when mine didn't show up, I was concerned, and that's when this whole thing started.
I'm still fighting the bureaucracy, and I'll take this to court if I have to. The asshole SOB who decided to cancel my work study should be fired on the spot.

11. My daughter was offered work-study in college but turned it |
|
down because it wasn't peanuts.....she made more money working for a RETAIL chain...and you should know they don't pay anything, either.
So maybe this will be an opportunity for you to do even better?

14. It's not the pay, it's the job. |

I loved this job. Football is my life, and I would work for peanuts if it meant that I could be part of one of the most storied college football programs in the country.
It's not about the money for me. Even though there are co-workers of mine on the eqiuipment staff who are receiving FULL SCHOLARSHIPS.
