VHS to DVD..is there a market?
I'm not selling a service here, but I wanted to ask the folks at DU if you think there is an interest in transferring VHS home videos to DVD? I have done it in my spare time for myself, but people have been asking about it and I'm wondering if it is worth putting the time in setting up to do this on the side? People have inquired about it, but you know how that goes? Everyone talks about things, but they don't do anything about it.
As I said, this is not a solicitation of business here, I want to start here in the area by word of mouth. Is this something that interests you, or is it not worth pursuing?

1. I think so
It depends on marketing, etc., and I don't know how much money is in it, but there should be a market.

I remember a few years ago (mid-late 80s?), we had a thriving market in transferring old home movies to VHS. Why not turn around and transfer those same tapes to DVD?

3. I have transfered film to VHS in the past
My projector is not up to par, but I have had requests for transfers of 8mm and super 8 to DVD also, so I might look in to getting a projector also.

2. It's something I personally want to have done....
But have not really found a place to do it by me.

So if one man's anecdotal evidence is any indication. Especially if you could do it more creatively with music and editing and such. I know I can send it out to be just directly transferred but I would prefer a more personal touch.

5. Depends on what you mean by easy
It depends on what people would want done. I don't know if it is really THAT easy, but it doesn't take a genius either.
