Bruce Springsteen recommends Al Franken's Book |
|
Edited on Mon Sep-08-03 01:17 PM by notmyprez
I saw Bruce at Fenway Park last night, and it was a great show (as his shows always are). Before he played "Born in the USA," he made some political comments, as he's been doing lately. Unfortunately, I couldn't catch everything he said, but he did comment on Iraq amd he made some crack about Cheney (I really wish I had caught that one). In a newspaper review of the concert, it mentioned that he spoke of the "sacred trust" of "demanding accountability of our leaders."
And his last comment, which I did hear, was a suggestion that people read Al Franken's book, which he named. I loved it! The funny thing was that before the show, I was showing my friend the DU site, which she loved. (She's active in Democratic politics but doesn't have a computer.) She had been telling me she just finished reading "Shrub," and I mentioned that many DUers were recommending Al Franken's book, which she didn't know about. Then a few hours later, Bruce also recommended it. It was pretty cool.

2. It was in the Herald review. |
|
Don't worry, I don't get the Herald. I just went to the site online to see if they reviewed the show. :-)

4. saw him 8/31 at Giants Stadium |

and apparently he gives that rap at each of his concerts, and plugs the Franken book. He mentioned how our people are being killed in Iraq and we need to keep vigilant about what is happening in our country.
He didn't mention Cheney at the concert I attended, but I read that at Fenway he said that people of all political persuasions were welcome at his concerts-- "except maybe for Dick Cheney".

5. Where did you read that? I'd love to see it. |
|
I heard him saying "except maybe for Dick Cheney" and he was laughing, but I hadn't quite caught the first half of the sentence. That's great--I love it!

6. Read it on the Bruce site |

Not sure where, but I think on the main discussion board, on one of the Fenway threads. Sorry I can't be more specific-- gotta go to work soon.
