the worst concert i ever saw was........ |
|
....unfortunately, one of my faves, chuck berry. he was late, hired local players as usual, no rehearsal, didn't even tune his ax, disinterested, bored, and an overall shitty performance. sad really.
followed by tiny tim, which was really a great show because it was supposed to be awful, and truly was.

the only person in my group of six who enjoyed the concert had just done three hits of acid. They were pathetic.
Too bad about Chuck, one of my favorites. Why is it performers don't know enough to quit while they're ahead?

We had just seen an incredible Victor Wooten show, Reggie Wooten was there and Divinity and I don't know who else because I could not see the stage but it was wonderful. BT came next but they never adjusted the sound system. You could not hear anything, it was mush so we left. I was really bummed because I really wanted to see them.

The depth of their suckage was stunning. It didn't help that the entire audience were Rush (Limbaugh) fans. It was a work related outing, so I had to go.

4. Joni Mitchell in Boston |
|
She took the stage at 6 PM and proceeded to berate the late comers for not being in their seats. She left and came back 45 minutes later. She then did an extended version of "Woodstock" where she actually left the stage and kept strumming while backstage! She then finished the concert. Four songs, no encore.

9. Gil Scott Heron (whom I love). |
|
He came onstage. Played a few bars of a song. Got up and left. We kept expecting him to come back - maybe he was taking a bathroom break, water break. No. That was it. Very disappointing, and tragic for him.
Beacon Theatre NYC.

14. I'm not sure wich horror show you are asking |
|
but Mitchell was in the early 80's at the Concerts on the Common. We talked with an usher while we were waiting for her to come back. He said she was pissed the the sponsers wouldn't allow her to hang her own artwork instead of the sponser sighns. What's funny is the concerts were scheduled to start early so as not to go too late. And everyone arrives late and most bands start a little late. Not her. She starts on time and then rips us for not being in our seats. What a nut. And it was a big happening. She hadn't been to Boston in years.

16. i love joni so i had to ask about what happened... i would have |
|
been like - whahappened ????? that would have been seriously puzzling. i know she feels strongly about her art, i guess it could have set her off.
thanks for sharing what you knew about it.
on a side note, if i had stood for what she did, and played the music she did, the entire decade of the 80s would have been enough to set me off...

12. Wow, I've seen about 10 Beck shows |

since the early 90's and they were all great. I will admit his old shows (before he became famous) were much better than his new ones. Maybe you just caught him on a bad night.

15. tie - Pink Floyd (Momentary Lapse of Reason) |
|
long, sounded bad, Foxborough Stadium's crappy acoustics, no Roger Waters (what was I thinking).
Rollins Band, Providence RI at a smaller venue. His first announcement was "we aren't doing any old material" and proceeded to play 16 tracks from "Weight" which wouldn't be released for another month.
