January 20 , 1993 was a very golden day :) |
|
I remember I was in the 7th grade at that time and our teachers ( Liberal teachers at that ) rushed us to finish our lunches ( they actually commanded that we run through the hallways back to our class rooms ) so that we could watch President Clinton take his oath of office on Inaguration Day . Whew I also remember watching all of the celebrations on CSpan that evening - it was almost an obsession . -thats when I really became interested in politics , at the age of 12 .
Let's make January 20 , 2005 a golden day for our children and get Kerry/Edwards on the Capitol Steps taking their oaths of office . Who is with me on this ! Get out and canvass ! Its not to late ... whew don't mind me I am energized .

6. Somehow 1/20/04 has the potential to be even more golden. |
|
I have a bottle of 1982 Cos d'Estournel I'm saving for the occasion.
I was saving it for a treasured day in my life, and there will be no more treasured day than the day Democracy is restored in my country.

that day. We had TVs around in conference rooms to show the occasional video. I tried and tried to get one to work so I could watch the inauguration, but they only got one channel - something stupid. So I got a couple friends together and we went to the local restaurant/bar for lunch and said we wanted to sit where we could see and hear the TV. It was a day of optimism I can still remember.
I'm still pretty proud of Bill as the first Boomer president. Despite it all I think he acquitted himself well if you take out the part where he was dumb enough to let himself get caught with Monica.
As far as 1/20/05.... I'm not even thinking past 11/2/04. I'm preparing myself for the worst. Thankfully I won't be home from class until 9:30 that night. Less time for me to keep myself away from the TV.

10. my Clinton inaugural story |
|
I was in Seattle, which had a HUGE rain and windstorm, with gusts near hurricane velocity. The "Inaugural Day Storm" it was called. The power went out FIFTEEN MINUTES before I got to see him take his oath. I listened instead on the radio with batteries.
A freeper fundie acquaintance at school made the crack the next day "that god was punishing Washington for allowing Clinton to be president."
I replied, "Well, god is stupid, because he hit the WRONG Washington".
That shut her up.
