Stephen King. Many of his stories interrelate. |
|
From characters casually mentioned, when most of his stories were Castle Rock based...to more complex plot weavings now. Hearts of Atlantis/Lowmen/BlackHouse/DarkTower
Has anyone ever done or seen a Tree/Flowchart showing this?

1. I haven't seen any charts |
|
but I always found that to be an interesting gimmick that he has. And it takes a lot of brains to do something like that. Major props to King for being able to pull that off.

3. If you read his books the sensibility is very Dem/lib. Hardcore Repub |
|
type characters are usually asshole/villains. Good guys are usually liberal/Dem types even though politics usually doesn't figure big except in books like Firestarter which is classic Military/Industrial/Intelligence Complex run amok, and one of the most entertaining too.

5. Also, "born again Christians" come off very badly in King's books, |
|
such as "Carrie"'s mom, and Vera Smith, the mother of Johnny Smith in the Dead Zone. Fanatics.
In The Dead Zone, Johnny's encounter with then candidate Jimmy Carter is portrayed very positively. Even though Greg Stilson, the fascist political candidate, is not assigned a specific party identity (I think he might even have been an independent), he appeals to the brainless macho rednecks that love shrubya so.
I hope SK has given some of his considerable bucks to the Dem/Kerry cause this year.

I don' think he's come "Out" as a Dem before then.
I mean blatantly.
Anyone who read him could see Liberal sensibilities...
Edit: awkward

10. He gave an interview in the Guardian last week... |
|
where he said his number one priority is "winning Florida for the Democrats". He's apparently planning to spend time in Florida campaigning for Kerry (although he's not entirely thrilled with Kerry; he was a Dean man).

11. Interesting.......... |
|
I was a Dean man, too, before I discovered Kucinich. But like King I'm supporting Kerry to the best of my ability. It looks as if he understands just how important this election is by going out and stumping for Kerry. And I think he is right to assume that Florida will be a big player in the next election as it was in the past.

from a news story covering an appearance by John Edwards at the University of Maine in Orono, where King introduced him:
King exhorted the faithful to go forth and multiply the Democratic vote in this "most important election of my lifetime'' by beating the bushes to find just one uncommitted soul to turn into a vote for Kerry-Edwards.
Accomplish that task, he implied, and they'd be doing mankind a wicked big favor, because "the current administration is the most unpleasant and dangerous bunch since the Nixon years'' - a back-handed compliment if ever I've heard one.
Also, he has a lifetime total of over $200K in contributions to the national and state party and to Democratic candidates on the state and federal level.

He has stayed a working man even with all his money.Heck he was hit by that truck walking along the highway to get some air or something.

9. He has a concordance, or index, so that he does not |
|
create contradictions between past characters/books/episodes. If he does, then he explains them properly.
Plus, he has good editors.
He is pulling everything together in the Dark Tower books. He claims he is retiring. Asimov pulled everything together in his last books, too.
