If freepers are silently giving us the "1" ratings, what about the polls?

I do agree with you though. I can start a thread, and within 30 seconds, someone always jumps on it and rates it a 1. No matter how profound or shallow the thread, it has a 1 immediately.

So, your point is well taken, as are others who don't like the ratings system.

If no one pays attention to them, then what is their value? and why not get rid of the ratings and other devices for freepers to screw with?

I do not like the ratings, and have gotten in the habit of, anytime I see a thread that has been rated a "1" and is not flamebait, adding a "5" to kind of counteract the asshole who rated it "1"

I only really see the low ratings in the Lounge, especially for vanities and puff threads. Some DUers don't like the Lounge.

Freepers would probably stick to GD and LBN where they could actually do damage. They'd also sooner or later brag about it back on FR, so you can always search their site for DU and ratings, and thus another mystery would be solved.
