What's your least favorite kid's cartoon of all time?

Mine is Shazan. It's about these two kids that for whatever reason have these two rings that summon a giant genie who can do just about anything and they fly around on a winged camel on some mission I have never cared enough to figure out.

2. "Shazzan" sucked, but -

for true dreck, look no further than "The New Adventures of Huck Finn", aired about the same time. Live action kids in Scooby-Doo situations being "chased through time" by Injun Joe, played by Ted Cassidy (Lurch from "The Addams Family").

Bill Hanna and Joe Barbera were just cashing the checks by this point. They no longer cared.

3. Scooby Doo
Edited on Tue Sep-09-03 07:38 AM by BigMcLargehuge
I am stull stunned by the obsession some of my peers have for this poorly animated, unfunny, formulaic, idiodic show about a talking dog and his moron companions who solve mysteries...

Hate it. Hate every incarnation of it since the pilot episode.

If it weren't for you meddling kids.... I'd have had better Saturday mornings as a young boy.

Lay off Shazzan, that was a cool show so was Young Samson!!!

4. I despise Scooby Doo too.
Never like it as a kid. Hate it even more as an adult.

(I still hate Shazzan worse).

And all incarnations of the Superfriends.

Wendy, Marvin, and Wonder Dog were annoying and stupid but so were the "Donny and Marie" Twins who had some fairly uninspired use of powers. It just boggled my mind to see the Wonder twins have to use their powers. "We have to get across the molten lava." (in unison) "Wonder twin powers, ACTIVATE." Her: Shape of a gorilla. Him: Form of ice stilts. And then she gets on the stilts and walks THROUGH THE LAVA????? On stilts? Made of ICE??? Give me a break!

7. Ever see the redubs of the Wonder Twins cartoons on Adult Swim?
They run them in between other shows or as end of hour filler... In each one their quary in need of rescue dies because their powers are so crappy...

The mother of a boy mauled to death by a bear in a cave:

You could have turned into an ice cage to protect my boy... and you, you could have taken the shape of a gorilla to fight the bear while my son ran for safety... but you chose to create a gopher mote and now my son is dead.

Funny stuff...

I hate the Superfriends too. I think it's one of the reasons I never liked DC Comics when I was a collector

15. Thank God!
It's wonderful to find other people who can't stand Scooby as much as I do. What's so great about Scooby anyway? He has to be bribed to do anything remotely brave and the plots are copies of the last episode.
Then again, a lot of the old Hanna-Barbara toons sucked ass. You either had animals doing unfunny, water-downed versions of old comedians; a group of no-personality kids with a stupid comedy relief who solve mysteries, or Flintstones rip-offs (Jetsons, Roman Holiday, etc). While the modern Hanna-Barbara stuff you see on Cartoon Network (Courage the Cowardly Dog, Powerpuff Girls, etc)is a hundred times better than the stuff they use to make, I don't see why those two guys were ever praised. They ripped off their own ideas for christ sakes and their classics weren't all that great either. I remember only laught out loud one time in my life when watching a Hanna-Barbara toon.
Love,
Yaoi Huntress Earth

PS-Sorry if I was ranting. Let's just say you don't want to get me on video game RPGs.

27. The original toons had a lot of historical merit.
Me: "What's that "A" card Bugs is holding? Well it's a little before my time, but during the Second World War when this cartoon was made, gasoline was rationed to a few gallons a week to help win the war."

Kid: "Oh."

47. Looney Toons not for kids
Originally in the 30s and 40s, Loony Toons were shown in the theatres before the main feature. The themes were considered "adult," even if it was just a cartoon, aka the "Stag Film" joke.

22. Inspector Gaget
This guy was so stupid (and not in a lovable Tick kind of way) that the only reason I watched it was in hopes of Dr. Claw would finally kill him and Penny would take over.
For new cartoons I'd go with Totally Spies. As if girls get enough valley girl type characters shoved down their throats already. And it's got the lamest villians ever. One of them became evil because she was kicked out of a Girl Scout-like group for eating all the cookies she was suppose to sell.
I'll admit that I'm a toon freak and normally I love the stuff, so that's why I feel so strongly about it.

My 4 year old really hates "Hey Arnold" and will throw a temper tandtrum or turn off the TV if anyone tries to watch it while she is around. She also doesn't like "Rocket Power" and complains about that show too. My 7 year old doesn't like "Dragon Tales" or "Oswald" because he thinks those shows are for babies.

I would be amazed if anyone else on DU remembered this one, which aired for a single season (1987-8) on CBS Saturday morning.

These little clowns ran around and tried to stop a big evil clown, whose soul purpose in life was to "gloom" people.

I saw every episode of this stinker, because I worked on it. I have never been the same since.

54. It was satire!
Intended for an adult audience.

It was endlessly hilarious, and crudely drawn on purpose. Gary Owens (from Laugh In) was the narrator and the voice of Roger Ramjet.

For those who never saw it, Ramjet was the leader of "The American Eagle Squadron", a blindly patriotic group of 10 year old pilots ("Yank", "Doodle", "Dan" and "Dee"--get it?) who fought supervillans such as the Dreaded Solenoid Robots, Count Batguy, and the ever evil "Noodles Romanoff".

Truly surreal, and on par with Rocky and Bullwinkle.

Trey Parker calls Roger Ramjet his inspiration for South Park.
