Poll question: Do You Have A Passport?
And... when did you get your first passport?

I keep mine current in case I ever feel like hopping on a plane at a moments notice for a whirlwind global vacation. (Yeah, right.)

3. Mine expired a couple of months ago.
I got it in June, 1993, just before I got out of the Army. I was taking a trip to Europe, and didn't want to have to rely on my Army leave orders at border crossings. It was stamped with the U.K., France, Belgium, Germany, The Republic of Ireland, and the Cayman Islands.

15. Cayman Islands?
Isn't your Cayman Island Bankbook an international passport? I don't think those will ever expire, at least that's what Ken Lay is hoping.

16. We were invited to spend a couple of weeks at
my father-in-law's new condo on Grand Cayman. It wouldn't surprise me to learn that he was moving some money offshore. But I never saw him go into Georgetown to visit the banks. We snorkled most of the time.

5. Always current,
just in case somebody wants to pay me to present a paper in Venice, again.

Well, it happened once, could happen again.

7. First passport at age 17
when my family went to Europe for five weeks.

Since then, my travels have been confined to Asia, but I would jump at the chance to go to Europe again.

11. It's expired
Thank you for the reminder.

I got my first one in 1969 when I went to Europe for 9 weeks as a high school graduation present. (Weren't they nice?)

I've had 2 since then. I could get an Irish one, too, but I haven't gotten around to it yet.

12. I got my first one in 1990
I've only used it three times. Twice to Mexico and once to Canada.

When I when to Canada I showed my passport to the clerk, she looked at the picture with blond hair and then at me (with my natural color at the time) and said "quite a big difference, eh?".

I love Canadians!

13. Expired
Got my first passport when I was 14. My mom and dad took me to England. I know it was valid as of 12 years ago, it has to have expired by now. I honestly can't find it.

Then I went to Italy for business. I kept it after it expired, because in my picture at 27, I STILL HAD SOME HAIR!
