Interesting literary fact. |

When polled, most people think that martians can be fought off with bacteria, viruses, and silver.
But in the original "War of the Worlds," by H.G. Wells, the martians were slain in the end by a Texan armed with a Bowie knife.

...the Martians are brought down when the clever earthlings hide inside a giant wooden horse, which the Martians, in their insatiable curiosity, bring within the confines of their encampment.
on edit: in polls, of course, most idiots think that's the ending of Monty Python and the Holy Grail. Sheesh.
