Poll question: $177 for good seats for "The Eagles": would you go? |
|
The "nosebleed" seats at the Michigan Palace (basketball arena) are going for over $45 bucks.
Seriously, would you even consider seeing these capitalist whores?

1. Absolutely not..the Eagles should and could do better for their fans |
|
They have a lot more artistic control than many acts. But what do I care..their music was mediocre at best.

I would not see these overrated, wrinkled-up old skunks if they paid ME $177.

10. Everyone has their price and I could really use |
|
$177 right now so if the Eagles paid ME to see them I would take them up on it, even though they pretty much suck.
When I saw Michael Moore in Minneapolis in March 2002 he gave ME $70 to help pay for my plane ticket. During the show he asked who had driven the furthest and people raised their hands and said where they had driven from. The furthest was Chicago.
My friends yelled that I had come from St Louis. He asked how I got there and I said I flew. Well, at first he said well la tee da, a plane. Then my friends said that I had bought the ticket on priceline.com. I also said I had to take two planes to get there. That confirmed my working-class credentials. He took out what money he had in his pocket and gave it to me. He then said to come after the show and that he could probably get me the rest. I was grateful for what he had given me there and did not pursue the offer.

I'd go see Michael Moore for nothing if it wasn't farther than my van could travel.
Once I have some money and a better vehicle, he might have a groupie. LOL!
Actually got my repuke boyfriend to buy me "Bowling for Columbine" this weekend. What some guys will do to get their underwear washed and folded!
Ma
P.S. The repuke SO is seriously rethinking his political affiliations after I told him about the overtime fiasco.

Their first couple of albums (with Bernie Leadon and Randy Meisner) were great... But they aren't exactly a 'live' band.

Saw 'em several yrs ago during Hell Freezes Over tour and they're great live, IMO.
FWIW, think tickets were around $100 for our seating, which was more than ANY concert is worth as far as I'm concerned.

5. Saw Fleetwood Mac Twice...Paid Once |
|
Paid about 30 bucks for my girlfriend and myself to see them in concert (never mind how long ago), we left for a nearby Hotel bar to scarf a few and Fleetwood Mac came into the bar to jam and relax.
The Stones haven't done anything origonal in 30 years, Eagles for the past 20, etc.

9. I think the ONLY group I would pay almost $200 to see |
|
is my much beloved Grateful Dead and then ONLY if they could GUARANTEE Jerry Garcia in the flesh.
Did you hear that Ticketb*stqrd is going to begin auctioning off prime concert seats? They are officially becoming the scalpers we knew they were.
More and more ordinary working people are being priced out of American life. Few families can afford to go see more than a couple baseball games per season let alone hockey or football. Here in the Lou a football ticket is at least $55!
It doesn't bode well for the Democracy when there are not common experiences that people can share.

13. Jesus, why? Buy their albums and play them at your leisure |
|
They used to, at one time, fucking rock as a band.
They no longer do, and Don Henly preaches.
Who needs to hear those songs played live by a band who doesn't have an edge anymore?

14. OK, I like The Eagles |
|
But I'm worried about covering the electric bill!
If they were close, I might think about hanging out in the parking lot and hearing some noise coming through the walls.
I hear Simon and Garfunkel will be playing far from walking distance at a price of $250. I might not even make it to the parking lot even if I try to walk.
God, please let me win the lotto so I can go hear some good live music! (Oh, and pay that electric bill.)

20. If you want to go hear some good live music |
|
pick up the entertainment section of your local and see what bands are playing in the area bars. 10 bucks tops and you will:
a. have a great evening b. be supporting someone who deserves to be supported c. be contributing to your local economy (the bar,the waitresses, etc). d. with some discriminating selection see a great band, just not "well-known".

OK, that's just Henley. Nevertheless, I can't think of ANYBODY I'd pay $177 to see (was that PER TICKET???). What a crock. I think I'll just go download some of their stuff for free.

to see a re-union concert of Rage Against The Machine. THAT'S IT!
Actually, If they could bring Layne Staley back from the dead, and reunite Alice in Chains for one night, then I would consider going to that...

Why would I want to pay $177 to go watch some old guys pretend they still know how to jam?! I'll spend my money more wisely, thank you.

They had one or two songs from their first album on the radio at the time. I didn't even know ahead of time who the opening act was going to be.
