Please help me and my band pick our band logo

A graphic designer came up with these designs, as his second draft. Which one do you like the best?

The number precedes the logo it refers to.

Also, any comments you have are welcome.

1. its a tossup between 2 and 7

7 is my favorite design, but it doesn't imply the name of your band as directly as the others. #2 is a more compact design. I voted for 2.

Seven is my favorite. One is not bad, but seven looks like a wild flower and it also has moons inside.

I rejected everything with Mickey Mouse ears right off the bat, so it was #2 or #7. I prefer #7.

Would be cool to add a little cartoon smilin' sun with a crown somewhere off center in the middle :-) Just a thought...was my first thought when I saw your band name.

because I've never seen the point in band logos. Let the NAME speak for the quality of songwriting, let the quality of songwriting identify you. I mean, what if the Beatles had a band logo? It would seem a little unnecessary wouldn't it? Or if the Beach Boys' logo was this guy standing next to a tidal wave with a little speech bubble coming from its head that read 'Baa woof surf quack'

If I may ask, what kind of stuff do you write? I mean, what style etc?

Of course, I know exactly what you're saying -- I fucking hate doing all of this bullshit, logos, press kits, biographies, blablabla. But the sad fact is that what you said is simply naive. Yeah, I wish the song-writing could speak for itself. It doesn't work that way -- it never did, but now much less than back when the Beatles played. A&R people, radio stations, clubs all want to see that you have a "professional" promotional kit. And "professional" to them means loaded with cheesy nothings, like logos and sweet-worded substanceless biographies and hip photos.

We write/play... well -- progressive rock, for the lack of a better label. I grew up listening to late 60s/early 70s stuff mostly, and then went to school for classical composition -- and then later on got into all sorts of things from reggae to bluegrass. Most people label what we do "progressive rock" I guess.

but I prefer to think of it as a kind of youthful idealism, or something.

Anyway, once you've established a name for yourself you can ditch the logo.

3 looks like a fluffy pop logo.
5 looks like a rock/pop logo.
7 looks like a more alternative semi-goth logo.
