3. Museums
There are museums in DC than you can shake a stick at... Air & Space, Natural History, National Gallery of Art, the new Native American museum just opened. All are on the Mall.

Shopping, restaurants and bars. Try James Carville's and Mary Matalin's restaurant, West 24. A lot of political activity goes on there.
