Our favorite ski area opens tomorrow
Cool weather and better than usual high country snows have allowed Loveland to open a couple of weeks ahead of usual.

We were season pass holders for years at Loveland - everyone knew us as the 'bear hat people', because we both wore these very fuzzy and warm hats that were made to look like bear heads.

We skied 20 days/year for almost fifteen years. She basically taught me how to ski. We had our own named, favorite places on the mountain. She rode the lift together, skied our favorite runs together. She had skied every season but one since she was 3. She was poetry on skis, she always made me so proud when I watched her ski.

I had been telling people how hard facing ski season would be, as recently as earlier this week. Now, all of a sudden, it's here.

And I have to face it - and it's grinding me into pulp.

1. Thought for sure it had to be 'Big Bear'

but it's way too early in SoCal... ;-)

My favorite Colorado area was Copper Mountain, with the ski train to Winter Park a close second. Never skiied Loveland. I also liked Arapahoe Basin - the only mountain I ever skiied the blacks. :scared:

I'm sorry you're missing your sweetie - sending you wishes for peace and strength  and happy skiing.

3. Go and ski and enjoy it
It is hard, I know. Tuesday was the four-month anniversary of Alan's death, and it hit me really hard. Time does heal a bit, but I still have a hard time going to stores we went to together, etc.

Take care. And happy skiing!

4. Thx flamingyouth
I'll ski, but how much I'll enjoy it remains to be seen.

I've been dreading ski season all summer - now I wonder if it'll be even harder than I thought it would be. The river was really hard - especially the first 4 or 5 days I went out. I forced myself to go - same will be true for skiing I imagine.

Sounds like you're still struggling some days. Hang in there, and I'll try to also.
