What Is Your Favorite Hipgnosis Album Cover?
Edited on Sat Oct-16-04 08:28 PM by mahatmakanejeeves
I wouldn't know where to begin. Give me some of yours.

Edited to add: here's a start.

3. WYWH
I was thinking of that one too, but as soon as you say, "yes, that's the one," another cover comes to mind. As you say, there were so many of them.

By the way, PF's WYWH was not the only 1974 album by a British group with the name WYWH. Can you name the other group (without resorting to Google)?

we already have a winner. That's a good album, isn't it?

Badfinger easily wins my vote for "band that should have achieved far more success than it did."

I see that Hipgnosis did the cover for Brand X's 1977 album
"Moroccan Roll". I don't have that album but I do have the Les Variations album by that name, released on the Buddah label in 1974.

13. I should have known that.
Now that their albums are out on CD, the search for the elusive Badfinger album has slacked off a little.

I went to a yard sale today where there were a few albums of more than average interest, including the wonderful David Crosby album "If I Could Only Remember My Name." Not only were the albums overpriced, though, but the few that I pulled out of the sleeves were heavily scratched, to the point of being absolutely unlistenable.

I've got a couple of copies already anyway.

You see the same mundane albums over and over again at yard sales. If you ever do see anything good, it's always trashed. I hate it when that happens.

14. Yeah dopers didn't take good care of their vinyl
I really liked the LP that Crosby and Nash did "Wind on the Water" that had lots of good songs on it.
Are all of Badfingers available on disc? Usually you just find those damn compilations and greatest hits thingys...they had like a dozen albums.

In the book Walk away Rene, the Led Zep "Presence" campaign is a pretty good one.

This included other pictures of happy people focusing on the obliesk...

What we are not seeing is the add-in stuff, like the stickers in Venus and Mars. "Wish You Were Here" had a bunch of extra stuff too.

10. I had forgotten that one.
Good, too. Is there any Alan Parsons Project album for which Hipgnosis did not do the cover?

15. that reminds me of
10cc "How dare you!" in the sense that the camera is shooting from inside a room with a view of the lawn in a window or doorway.

Also by Hipgnosis, of course.
