Need techie help saving files!!!
http://www.secondterm.us/

I would really love to save the files to disk, but haven't managed to to it successfully. I have right-clicked and selected 'save target as,' and it saves, but as an HTM file, and not anything 'playable.' What am I doing wrong? I NEED to get these onto a disk!

1. Are you talking about the Saddam flash movie?

Right click on the above and choose 'Save target as' and that should allow you to save the flash movie to your disk.

If you click on the links to view each movie, then right click in the right hand frame and choose view source you can find the .swf filename for each movie.

2. Well, that one to start with,
but I tried to save the whole series (one at a time).

When I right click on the link in the left-hand frame, and then select 'save target as' it saves it as an html file. So there's something I'm not doing right there...

But now reading what you've posted, I right click on the movie as it's playing in the right hand frame, and then 'view properties' and see the .swf filename... so THEN what do I do?

Edited on Sun Oct-17-04 04:35 PM by landdaddy
Flash movie unless specified for download or you have a third party application with which to do so. I know of no freebies to recomend but there are some shareware programs out there. No links come to mind at this time however. Sorry!

on edit; I found a link if you are interested:http://www.downloadatoz.com/flashsaver/

4. of course you can save them
Edited on Sun Oct-17-04 04:32 PM by Kellanved
Simply look at the HTML source and find the correct (*.swf) filename; then copy the file from the browser("Temporary Internet Files") cache.

Edit:
Won't work of course, if the actual data is not stored in the swf.

14. I wear dorky glasses..
Actually:

I went to. http://www.secondterm.us/

Clicked on a link on the left.

In the frame on the right I right clicked on THIS FRAME ---> View source.

This opened a new window displaying the code for that frame

<param NAME=movie VALUE="swf/liberation.swf"> <param NAME=quality VALUE=high>

I assumed the URL for the movie was: http://www.secondterm.us/swf/liberation.swf

This is using Mozilla 1.2.1
And I could have done a better job with the description but i am soo tired.

10. WOW,
you guys ROCK! :yourock:

I ended up downloading http://www.snapfiles.com/get/flashsave.html under the recommendation of Jim4Wes, and I've downloaded all of the flashmovies from the secondterm site (along with, accidently, a few others! :) )

Now, to convert them to some sort of format so I can burn them onto a DVD. ANY SUGGESTIONS??? :P

13. The million Macintosh nerds march has a new goal.
I think in 24 hours we can have all of these movies in mpeg2. I will post with links as they start showing up.
