What Don't You Get?
Is there anything that you truly don't understand? What is it that defies rational explanation and any attempt by you (or others) to make sense of it?

Sending people photographs of your pierced nipple enduring some serious shear stress is no way to initiate a romantic encounter.

7. I just want a lover like any other, what do I get?
I only want a friend who'll stay to the end, what do I get?
What do I get? Oh, what do I get?

I'm in distress, I need a caress, what do I get?
I'm not on the make, I just need a break, what do I get?
What do I get? Oh, what do I get?

I only get sleepless nights, alone here in my half-empty bed.
For you things seem to turn out right, I wish that only happened to me instead.
What do I get? Oh, what do I get?

I just want a lover like any other, what do I get?
I only want a friend to love to the end, what do I get?
What do I get? Oh, what do I get?

I get no love.
I get no sleep at night.
I get nothing that's nice.
I get nothing at all
At all at all at all at all at all at all
'cause I don't get you.

Who would Jesus bomb?

I'm tired of ministers and preachers in my neck of the woods advocating open warfare as if this current war situation were the latest version of the crusades....

Shame on anyone who calls themselves a christian for not respecting the very top commandment handed down from god, "Thou shalt not kill."

I still haven't heard a satisfactory reply from anyone in the clergy on this point. Even a broken pope is right twice a day.

46. Algebra, chemistry and other complicated math.
I understood Geometry, but the rest of math above the 8th grade level is just beyond my ability to comprehend.

They tried that "new math" crap with me in elementary school, which left me confused about basic math skills. I had a very good, traditional 7th grade math teacher who helped me overcome that-I had to stay after school a lot, but she was a good teacher who could see exactly why I was having problems. Unfortunately, they aren't all as good as she was, so when I got into Algebra, I was quickly confused and didn't have a very good teacher for that class.

Geometry was logical, and I had another good teacher for that class. My chemistry teacher was also a good teacher-I took one semester, stayed after class for individual tutoring, had my "genius" brother trying to help me. At the end of the semester, the teacher asked me what I was planning to major in in college. I told him "social work or sociology". He asked me what my Algebra grade was, I told him a "c". He advised me to drop the class, take rock science and never again listen to any advice my guidance counselor gave me. He gave me a C, even though I earned a D, because he said I worked hard, put in the effort, but should never have been in his class to begin with.

49. What's not to get?
Union Of The Snake
Duran Duran

Telegram force and ready
I knew this was a big mistake
There's a fine line drawing
My senses together
And I think it's about to break
If I listen close I can hear them singers
Voices in your body coming through on the radio
The Union of the Snake is on the climb
Moving up it's gonna race it's gonna break
Through the borderline
Nightshades on a warning
Give me strength at least give me a light
Give me anything even sympathy
There's a chance you could be right
If I listen close I can hear them singers
Voices in your body coming through on the radio
The Union of the Snake is on the climb
It's gonna race it's gonna break
Gonna move up to the borderline

Makes perfect sense to me. Maybe you're not sophisticated enough to get it. Just go back to your Go-Go's, won't you?

58. Baseball caps worn backwards
Edited on Mon Oct-18-04 11:25 AM by trof
Baseball caps have evolved over the years.
Some early ones:

The “Parti-Colored Cap” (No. 1) featured vertical stripes on a “pillbox” crown and a striped bill. Best known as the cap worn by the 1886 World Champion St. Louis Browns of the American Association, the style never quite caught on in the major leagues.
The “Chicago Cap” (No. 5) was the same shape as the “Parti-Colored Cap,” but featured horizontal (rather than vertical) stripes and a solid-colored bill. The style was one of the most popular among big league clubs of the late 1880s, but by the turn of the century only a few clubs were still donning caps of this type.
The “College Style Cap” (No. 21) was a solid-colored version of the “Parti-Colored” and “Chicago” caps, with a slightly shorter crown.
The “Boston Style Cap,” with its abbreviated bill and the forward-tilting crown, was available both with (No. 13) and without (No. 7) a star atop the hat.
The “Jockey Shape Cap” (No. 11), patterned after the caps worn in the horse-racing circuit, featured a long bill and large round crown. Though not particularly popular at the time, it is the cap most similar to the modern-day baseball cap.
The “Skull Cap” (No. 19) was similar to the “Jockey Shape Cap,” except that the bill was much shorter.
The “Base Ball Hat” (No. 3), first advertised by Spalding in the 1877 Base Ball Guide, was a derby-style cap that was never adopted by a major league club.

Stitch Story
In 1903, Spalding introduced the “Philadelphia Style” cap, which featured an innovative first: the stitched visor. The subtle addition resulted in a longer-lasting cap that better retained its shape. By the end of the decade, nearly every baseball cap featured the stitched bill.

http://www.baseballhalloffame.org/exhibits/online_exhibits/dressed_to_the_nines/caps.htm

I digress...
The purpose of the elongated bill is to shield your eyes from the sun. Everytime I see a young person squinting into the sun with his cap on backwards I just have to shake my head and think :wtf:?

I don't DO kinky.
Kinky makes me nervous and I get hives.
Then I have to go meditate and read my bible and get cleansed.
Tell me that wasn't kinky.
Tell me that restraint devices aren't involved.
Tell me there's no leather or latex.
It's what I want to hear, so just tell me that.
OK?

Just sign me:
Missionary Position Only
thank you
;-)

This is the first post I've seen of yours since that nasty storm. It's good to know you're alive! I hope y'all didn't come home to a disaster! :hi::beer:

83. Well, it's like complaining about having the flu
when your friends have terminal cancer.
I'm better off than most, but I STILL have the flu.
Minimal home damage.

My lot looks like parts of Viet Nam after a rather severe Tet offensive. Just huge holes everywhere. Insurance doesn't cover that.

But...we have a cool/warm/dry place to live while neighbors are ripping out hardwood floors, drywall, and insulation and trying to find a place to live for several weeks. Two couples are camped out in our spare bedrooms for the time being.
Ain't togetherness swell?

I just don't get it. I've had folks explain it to me but I just don't understand why anyone would be fascinated by such a boring game.

74. Adam Sandler... an everyday goofy kinda guy you'd like to have a beer with
Julia Roberts... always pretty with a plastic smile and perfect hair and makeup, not too threatening, always affable.

Hey! Kinda like George and Laura!!

78. How I can get a good job
I got my degree. I am supposed to be really smart too. Over the past 4 years, I have been getting valuable work experience in an industry that is fairly prevelent around here. I make under $30,000 a year. The only interviews I get are for jobs making less than that except that good job in which I blew the big interview at corporate. My boss says that it will only hurt my career if I take an equivalent job or lower, but there is no where to advance within my company. There are very few jobs advertised which are mid level, and I don't know anyone who can help me.

80. Two things - Gentlemen please answer me this...........
#1 - How can you be so competent at work and still not be able to pick up your own dirty socks at home??

#2 - Why do men lie when the truth is just as easy??

If anyone can answer these two questions I will be eternally greatful.

The works. Especially math. I have no idea how I'm in Alg. 2/Trig Acc. right now. Straight B's and some occasional A's I guess does the trick.

317 Democrats (plus or minus 6)
284 Independents (plus or minus 6)

Sorry couldn't resist.

Just don't get it. People make vows to honor the person they claim to love and then they beat the living shit out of them. I also don't understand beating children.
