I had ZERO sleep today. Does that make me.... |
|
beat? You're darn tootin' it does.
My wife had a 6:30 flight this morning to Salt Lake City (we is working there the next two weeks coming home for the weekend) so we planned to leave at ~4 AM. Well I went to bed at about 8:30 last night after getting up at 7 AM on a Sunday morning but I woke up at midnight. I laid there for an hour and finally got out of bed at 1 AM and went into the living room to read thinking that might make me sleepy, no luck.
So the alarms go off at 3 AM and we finally got out the door at 4:30-got to the airport around 5 and I got back home at 5:15. I wasn't tired so I made some coffee and started flipping around the TV channels. At 6:30 I regretted it as I was getting tired. I laid down and just laid there for another hour-at 7:30 the alarm went off again and I made my way into work at 8:30 (on time).
Now I am out of gas but I found out I have to go to a Quality Leadership meeting at 3 PM -just what I need a freakin' meeting.
I can't go home and crash or I will be in a vicious cycle and become nocturnal (see how this all ties back into the Lounge today?) so I am going to jack myself up on coffee and try to make it until at least 9PM.
Ugh I hate this.

tomorrow.
I know. I'm old, too. Once I'm sleep-deprived, I can sleep for 12 hours at a time.

Really no really I appreciate it.

No I will sleep for 8 hours from whenever I go to sleep. That is about it unless I have been on a wild weekend with the guys and then MAYBE.

Too tired to function, but forced to do so anyway. Well, hang on. You've only got a few hours to go.

5. Odd you should say that |

That usually is one of my mottos but this is different. I am most worried about volunteering the rest of the week at Kerry HQ here in Richmond.

Dennett, Daniel C. "Darwin's Dangerous Idea" 1995
Sorry I can't give you a page number, but he has a really neat discussion (among hundreds of other neat ones) about the difference between numbers and numerals, different numbering systems, and the arbitrariness of numerals vs. the objectivity of numbers.
It's a fantastic read. Lots of references to Dawkins, Gould, Chomsky, etc...if you're into that sort of thing.
