Or Cow Pie Bingo (although that's more like gambling than a "sport")

Having watched lots of sports, the most exciting finish to a championship game I ever saw in any sport was an All-Ireland hurling final about 15 years ago. In 'per head of population' terms, I actually would rate the Irish as the best sportsmen (and women) in the world.

30. Definitely Irish hurling |
|
It came to mind immediately. Sort of a combination of field hockey, soccer and Australian rules football.
The most brutal conventional sport I've ever seen. Players interviewed after the game with gashes all over their face, via the crude wooden stick with a slight bend.
I saw one woman buying a beginner hurling stick for her little boy, such a pristine face. Then I envisioned him 10-15 years later, i.e. now, with a couple of teeth and relentless scars.
Another weird one: bowling in Lichtenstein, with the pins attached to ropes that hung from the apparatus.

Bloodless Bullfight In Arles, France |
|
I can't even describe it. Guys ran up and tapped the bull on the nose. Bulls even jumped over the inner ring (when they did, the peopled jumped out into the ring). The fense must have been 4.5 feet high -- and over they went. Then around and back into the ring. It was hysterical. I think the bulls got points for that move.
Anyone else ever see it?

Donkey basketball. You play basketball riding a donkey. Oh you can dismount if you have to chase the ball down but you have to hold the reins of the donkey.
I played in it as part of a charity benifit back in the mid 70's. I don't think they play this any more due to animal welfare concerns.

Squeeze a dime between the butt cheeks, and while holding it there, waddle froward and drop the dime into a shot glass on the floor. You ain't seen shit 'til you've seen a crowd of bikers squink.

traditional swimming skills, i.e. swim meets as conducted in Japan 200 years ago.
It included stuff like one-armed swimming (with one arm in the air), and swimming with weights attached to the swimmers.

Luge. Very odd. Two-man luge. Even odder.
How about Biathalon? Who thought to combine cross country skiing with shooting?
