A lady friend of mine makes fifteen bean soup. Question? How can one make a meal on fifteen beans? It is so confusing!

Put a pretty stone in a glass bowl. Add the fifteen beans. It will be your centerpiece and a feast for the eyes. Then...
Cook some red meat of your choice. Drain and add tomatoes, tomato juice, and canned beans. Mix some spice (packaged is OK) and add a dash of cinnamon and cayenne and maybe a little cocoa. If you like, saute some onions and mild peppers. Put it together and cook for a couple of hours. Add more stuff as you see fit. Get some crackers or make corn bread.
Admire the beans in the bowl while you eat.
Although I do like fifteen bean soup.

For lack of a better expression. I heard that the crab population where I (potted) hee hee hee..is just about gone. The Santee river had been re-diverted from going into the Cooper River (Charleston) to its original and natural flow. The resulting flood of fresh water into the Santee River delta was just too much for the crabs.

10. crab pot, bean pot? maybe not |
|
but we'll have a big crab boil this weekend for sure! Mom and the kids pick crabs for hours. she makes a big pot of *garlic* crabs with the leftovers.
I get to go buy the crabs and drink beer with the crabbers at the fish camp and do the cook-em-up thing. The crabs-and the crabbers-are all fat and happy this year.

11. Are you my sister, oneighty? |
|
I just sent my sister an email telling her to go to Girard Gourmet in La Jolla, CA for their 15 bean soup next time she was in the area. It is soooo yummy! And I promise, there are more than 15 beans in the soup, don't worry.

There used to be a restaurant near the Capitol building in DC named "The Beanery" (Spelling) All they served was bean soups; all of them delicious.
