Just watched "Magnolia" for the 3rd time...
...I'm convinced it's one of the best movies ever made. Closer examination indicates that there is lots of visual foreshadow to the biblical punishment dished out on the characters. Just picking out all the indicators is good fun, let alone the rest of the film...

1. I love the soundtrack to that movie.
To tell the truth, more than the movie itself. Aimee Mann is just great here.

2. Whats the deal with the guys hanging themselves?
I tuned in once (it was on Sundance or something), watched....and right in the middle they had a documentary type b/w scene about some guys hanging themselves? It didn't seem at all related.

I liked the scene where all the characters sang along to the song....

But talk about your Deus Ex Machina....maybe I just need to see it again, to get the full impact. I was impressed with Tom Cruise's work, what I saw of it.

whom they robbed outside his store, in Greenberry Hill, London. The three men each had last names of Green, Berry and Hill......ties in with the movie's theme(s) on matters of chance, circumstance and coincidence.

I loved this film!

3. 3 times??? Ugh!
I was stupid enough to pay $8 to see this 3 hour root canal in the theaters, and I've NEVER hated a film so much. Pretensious piece of drivel, with an obvious trite point to it, which is beaten over your head numerous times. I kept saying..."Yes, we get it! Can we move on?" At least I can laugh at "Battlefield Earth".:eyes:

GAGnolia is like painting a red dot on canvas and calling it art. No it's not. It's the flag of Japan!!! PT Anderson is a pompous, self important windbag.

But, if you like it, that's Ok!

6. I will say that...

...PT Anderson disappointed me profoundly with "Punch Drunk Love". Now THAT was pretentious, obvious drivel. Watching Magnolia again just hammers that point home.
